Guy Laroche
Guy Laroche, the founder of the eponymous company, was a French fashion designer.
After initiating his career in millinery, 1949 Guy Laroche has began to work for Jean Desses and became his assistant. Six years later, he visited the United States in order to investigate new pret-a-porter-wear manufacturing methods. Next year, in 1956, he established a high-fashion atelier at 37 avenue Franklin Roosevelt in Paris. His first collection was favorably received: he reintroduced vibrant colors such as orange, topaz, pink, turquoise and pink. The clothes of him also featured back lines and plunging neck. Opposed to the naughty nature of most Parisian designers, he was known as being humble and gracious. He also designed haute-couture but practical clothing for modern women. Guy Laroche was also a pioneer in the fashion industry: he was one of the first to create separates for the American market.
