Christian Marie Marc Lacroix

Christian Marie Marc Lacroix (May 16, 1951 in Arles, France) is famous fashion designer who comes from France. In 1981 he started to work like designer and Artistic Director for the House of Patou before he opened his own couture and ready-to-wear business in 1987. He began to put out ready-to-wear a few years later. Comments of some critics were unfavourable for the first – fruit of his work. They thought about him like about man who doesn’t understand the type of clothing the working woman needed. His theatrical style made him very famous in the world. It came from his work while in the theatre. A great colorist, the designer is well known for his "technicolor" collections and a penchant for interior decorating. Christian Marie Marc Lacroix is also very well known for his 'le pouf' gown, as well as closing all his haute couture fashion shows with a model dressed up as a bride. He was too much aware of the advertising and public relations aspects of haute couture and is also very cognizant of the value of couture in pushing fashion to upper limits.

His great succes has happened when in 2002 he became Artistic Director of the Florentine fashion house known as Emilio Pucci. Since he had some other pursuits and left on agreeable terms as he and the house believed that it would be not right to the house to not put in the effort required for collection of future together with his other work.

Christian Lacroix was also very much interested in collection of Hollywood stars so he has designed many dresses for them. He is responsible for designing the wedding dress of Grammy award winning diva Christina Aguilera.

His work is very well known on all over the world. Instance, it is him who is designer of the new uniform of Air France staff and its crew in 2004. Also Pyjamas which have his sign are handed out to passengers who are travelling on Air France First Class (L'Espace Premier).
